PUTTING WOMEN’S INTUITION TO GOOD USE

.In today’s world, you can never tell whether a person is a good one or of the opposite. They can be
dressed like an executive but before you know it, they can also be the most dangerous person. So, we
as women, have to be more careful and alert with our surroundings.

If you face a situation where you notice the same vehicle trailing you from behind, don’t panic and stay focused. Try to identify who the driver is behind the wheel. If they look suspicious, then you have to be careful. Keep on driving and act normal. Try not to make them realize that you have noticed them trailing you.

Call anyone you know and inform them you are being followed. Give them the car registration number, what type of vehicle and the colour, as well as how many persons you can see in the car.

The next step is, drive to the nearest police station. If you don’t know where is the nearest police station, call the police and inform them that you are being followed. It is always a good idea to store the police hotline or emergency number in your handphone. Let the police direct you to the safest place.

It might be a good idea to also head for the nearest crowded area where there are a lot of people but this can also prove risky as in today’s violent world, criminals will strike anywhere even in public places without any fear of being seen.

So ladies, the best way is to always play it safe, be brave and act smart.

Also try to have some tools in your car for safety reasons. Get yourself a baseball bat or a wooden stick, pepper spray or any sharp objects. Make sure you keep all this tools in the car and within easy reach but do keep it out of reach of children.

Things you should look out for:
  • Pulling over when a man drives alongside of you pointing at your car pretending something is wrong. If this happens, drive to the nearest well-lit and populated petrol station and look the car over yourself (or ask an attendant). Never pull over immediately. Believe it or not, many women have fallen for this for fear of their car spontaneously exploding in the middle of the road. Not likely.

  • Be cautious of people accidentally bumping into your car from behind. There have been many bump

and rob cases where criminals stage an accident to get you to stop your car. Where possible, stop at the

nearest police station or in a crowded public area.

  • Getting into the attacker’s car when he pulls a gun and orders you to get into his vehicle. Most attackers don’t want to shoot you ... they want you to get into the car so that they can drive you to a deserted place and torture you. Don’t comply. Run screaming. It is MUCH more likely than not that he will just move on to an easier target.

  • Not locking your doors while driving. You often read about cases where the attacker simply walks up to a woman’s car while she’s at a traffic light and jumps in with his gun or knife drawn. Lock the door the momnt you step into the car.

  • Not being alert in parking lots. If you go to the grocery store at night, don’t be shy about asking for an escort to your car. Too many women are abducted from parking lots or even raped in the parking lot. Look in your back seat before entering your car. Cars provide endless hiding places for attackers, both inside them and in between them. Be aware of your surroundings by looking to the left and right and behind you with your head up all the time. You may appear paranoid and look funny to others, but an attacker will think twice about approaching someone who appears so aware of what’s going on.

  • Parking your vehicle in a well lit area.

  • When having your car serviced or parked by a valet, give the attendant only the car keys. You do not want your house keys duplicated by people with criminal intentions.

  • Never leave children unattended in the car whether or not the engine is running.
