Review -8TH GENERATION ACCORD |
|
|
| A manifestation of
Honda’s upward shift |
The new and 8th generation Honda
Accord recently introduced is more than
a luxury sedan but a manifestation of the
Japanese manufacturer’s upscale shift to
a more significantly refined direction.
Not only is it modern, stylish and
elegant, but it more importantly inherits
very visible European design, look and
feel characteristics which brings Honda
a notch up against its peers and nearest
competitors.
The Accord will appeal to those who
aspire to succeed in life, have a discerned
image and enjoy a high performance
drive.
It engineers claim that a team from
Honda Japan had traveled around the
world to conduct a research on buyers’
expectations.
The all-new luxury sedan is suited
for both personal and business usages.
It is fun to drive and you would be
undoubtedly become proud of owning
one.
Highlights of the 8th generation
Honda Accord, added the engineers,
include sophisticated styling, dynamic
features and advanced performance –
built purely to provide customers the joy of owning a luxurious and performancedriven
executive sedan.
SHARP & STYLISH The Accord’s exterior is characterized
by sharp and strong designs. The front
features a powerful forward thrusting
nose, sharply cut headlights to add an
aggressive yet elegant appearance.
The rear view’s 3-D shape cabin
meanwhile, provides a compact
and sporty look. Sturdy alloy wheel
arches and chrome-based trimmings
complement the car with smarter and
more prestige feel.
SPACIOUS & SELECTIVE It is notable that the car features the
most spacious ever cabin in the Accord
line up; distance between driver and
front passenger has been expanded and
increase in rear knee space and leg room.
This provides a comfortable feel for both
passengers and the driver.
Tandem space has been increased by
25mm; while the knee space is increased
by 35mm. The distance between front
occupants has been widened by 40mm
to secure an ample front view for rear
passengers. And a 15 mm reduction
in floor height is achieved through an
optimized exhaust system layout, a
thinner floor frame and slender fuel tank.
Advanced technologies in the Accord
provide strong and solid and more
stability, thereby creating a secure and
comfortable driving feeling.
PERFORMANCE
The Accord is available in three engine
variants – the 2.0 litre SOHC and 2.4
litre DOHC i-VTEC engines - with the
2.4 litre model boasting the highest
engine power of its class – and the
top of the range 3.5-litre i-VTEC
VCM engine.
The 3.5-litre’sVCM engine
incorporates a system that
activates and deactivates the
engine’s cylinders, meeting the
demand of both acceleration and fuel
savings faithfully.
The 2.4-litre meanwhile, features a
refined 4-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine,
producing an impressive 180PS of power
and 222Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre
engine also employs i-VTEC technology,
delivering outstanding performance
at the exact moment you need it and
produces an impressive 156PS of power
and 189 Nm of torque.
Paddle shifters are available for both
the 2.4 and 3.5-litre variants.
All variants are also fitted with the
VGR (Variable Gear Ratio) steering
system that responds faithfully to the
driver’s intention. It gives precise and
good responsive steering manoeuvrability
in sharp cornering, parking spaces and
when changing lanes at high speeds
SAFETY The car is designed to spread out and
disperse front collision impact over
a larger surface, so as to limit cabin
intrusion to effectively minimize injuries.
The 2.0 liter and 2.4 litre versions also
feature two and four Airbags Systems
respectively.
The 2.4 and 3.5-litre variants are also
equipped with Honda’s revolutionary
VSA or Vehicle Stability Assist or
traction control. VSA controls sudden
changes in vehicle behaviour, keeping
the driver in control. When driving in
unexpected situations, or tight cornering,
the system stabilises the vehicle,
reducing counter-productive driver
tension. |
