AAM chairman YM Tunku Datuk Mudzaffar Tunku Mustapha has been awarded the prestigious Institute of Motor Industry's (IMI) Honorary Companion award in recognition for his lifetime achievements in the motor industry.
The IMI is a professional association for individuals working in the motor industry and is the leading awarding body for qualifications in the automotive sector. It is a licensed member of the Engineering Council UK and assists the Malaysian Government to raise standards in the local motor industry by formally recognizing Malaysian qualifications and awarding appropriate grades of IMI membership against them.
Minister of Human Resources Datuk Seri Fong Chan Onn presented the Honorary Companion Award to YM Tunku Datuk Mudzaffar at a ceremony at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur recently. The ceremony was part of the forum organized by the Institute of Motor Industry (Malaysian Chapter) with the theme "Malaysia 21st Century: Are we Prepared for the Global Challenge?
In his address, YM Tunku Datuk Mudzaffar said: "Today's motor industry is changing at an ever increasing rate and faces severe challenges to its prosperity. Competitive pressure requires suppliers to take radical steps in the manufacturing processes."
