In extending greater convenience and making its services more accessible to its members and the public, the Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM) on 1 December 2007 officially opened its first of a series of lube and one-stop centres that has been planned throughout the country. The centre, located at the Petronas station in Serdang, is the first for AAM that currently offers these services from its own premises in Penang, Johor Baru and Ipoh. In addition to being able to conduct an oil service at the centre, AAM members and customers can also have their vehicles inspected and evaluated, renew their insurance, and conduct transactions related to the Road Transport Department (RTD) in the form of renewal of their driving license and transfer of car ownership or cancellation. Customers can sign up on-the-spot for an AAM membership, and as members, are entitled to enjoy a special discount of between 10% and 20 % discount depending on the lube package of their choice.

The centre opens from 9am to 6pm daily. Other services provided at the centre include application for an international driving permit and circulation permit, applications for Carnet de Passage, rental of baby bassinet and child safety seats, and tour and travel services offered by AAM Travel Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of AAM. Members can also renew their existing AAM membership over the counter or have their membership cards and AAM security stickers replaced. AAM currently has a membership count of 160,000 both comprising of both ordinary and basic members. The current AAM membership is RM 100 (RM 25 entrance fee and 75 annual fee), with an annual renewal fee of RM75.“The lube and one-stop centre program is one of several other new and exciting products that is being introduced by AAM as it gears up to strengthen and provide a more comprehensive suite of services to Malaysian vehicle owners,” said Chairman of AAM Tunku Mudzaffar Tunku Mustapha.
