FREE HELMETS FOR MOTORCYCLISTS,
CHILDREN AND CYCLISTS
The Automobile Association of Malaysia
in co-operation with the Road Safety
Department (JKJR) in April embarked
on another campaign to distribute free
motorcycle and bicycle helmets in the town
of Kuala Pilah in Negri Sembilan.
A total of 2,000 helmets for adults,
children and for bicyclists, were distributed
to the community.
The effort is part of an ongoing campaign to distribute for free some 10,000 motorcycle helmets. The event was launched earlier in the year with
the distribution of some 2,000 motorcycle helmets and 600 bicycle helmets.
In his speech, AAM Chairman Y.M.
Tunku Datuk Mudzaffar Tunku Mustapha
highlighted the alarming statistics
recorded at the end of Ops Sikap XVI
during the Chinese New Year holiday
period, where of the total 190 fatalities, 106
had involved motorcyclists.
Also present at the event were the
Road Safety Department Director-General
Datuk Suret Singh and AAM Vice
Chairman Wan Zaharuddin Wan Ahmad.
