Expanding on its already successful Smart Tracker system,
an Automatic Vehicle Location Service or AVLS, the
Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM) for the first
time will go beyond servicing individual car owners to
provide logistics, transportation and fleet operators with
an integrated fleet management system and anti-theft
solution.
Version 2 of its Smart Tracker system provides almost
real time information to fleet operators, via a system
designed to not only pin point vehicle positions and its time
and date at each location, but also the direction in which
is traveling in and its speed, thus enabling factors such
as violations, summonses, fuel consumption and driving
characteristics to be closely monitored.
Smart Tracker uses the combination of Global
Positioning Satellite (GPS), Global System for Mobile
Communication (GSM) and the Geo Information System
(GIS) for highly accurate location information of vehicles of
up to 3 metres – 5 metres on the ground.
In the event a vehicle is stolen or hijacked, Smart
Tracker can immobilize the vehicle as soon as possible
by ignition, which is designed primarily to slow down the
vehicle gradually before resulting in total power loss.
Over and beyond providing security for mobile assets,
the system’s capabilities will also generate immense
savings in the areas of fuel consumption, wages paid in
terms of overtime and vehicle maintenance.
